The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) onMonday informed that it has extended the validity of documents related to MotorVehicles Act and Central Motor vehicles Rules (fitness certificate, all typesof permits, driving license) till June 30, 2020, to give the customers somerelief due to the current disruption which has caused complete lock down and closureof government transport offices.

As per the government notice, the extension is valid if theexpiry date of the documents is between Feb 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020.

Further, ‘non-use clause facility’ provided by VAHANplatform online, can be accessessed for suspension of tax liability, to giverelief to the commercial vehicles like taxi, buses, which are non-operationalas of now. The development comes in the wake of the 21-day lockdown imposed bythe government to support the transporters and essential service providers inthe country, when the coronavirus outbreak has breached the 1000-mark.
